Separating our Family
Helping you navigate parenting and property decisions together.
If you have come to the end of a relationship, Blue Door Mediation can help you and your ex-partner work through the property and parenting challenges ahead.
Even if you have (or had) a case in the Family Court, we provide a place for you and your ex to work through the issues together, in a supportive environment. It can take two years to get a Family Court hearing – we can see you in a matter of weeks. Your lawyers can advise the Judge that you have solved some or all of your issues together.
You are welcome to bring a support person or persons to our offices, including your lawyer.
How we can help:
- We provide each of you with a guided workbook, that you can complete in your own time, by yourself or together with your ex-partner. You can also access the workbook online. Please contact us to receive your workbook.
- We help you create a plan for separating your family obligations, relationship property and any care arrangements for your children and/or pets.
- If and when required, we work with agreed professionals to build a team that will support you both to reach agreement. We can bring in lawyers, coaches, child specialists, valuers, accountants etc as needed.
- We meet with you and facilitate you and your ex-partner reaching agreement that can then be recorded in a written document for you both to move forward with.
We will refer you both to independent legal advisors (if you have not already engaged someone) who will finalise and certify the Agreement, so you have a legally binding and enforceable agreement.
