Contracting Out / Pre‑Nuptial Agreements
Planning our financial future together.
Planning a future together often includes important conversations about finances, assets, and long-term security. A pre-nuptial agreement (also known in New Zealand as a contracting out agreement) can help couples clearly set out how property and finances will be managed if the relationship changes in the future.
Whether you are entering a marriage, de facto relationship, or second relationship with existing assets or children to consider, it is completely normal to feel nervous about raising these important topics with your partner.
At Blue Door Mediation, we help couples have respectful and productive conversations so they can make informed, mutual decisions about their financial future with confidence.
How we can help:
We provide guided workbooks to help you and your partner to explore your financial options, at your own pace. You can access the workbook in hardcopy or online. Please contact us to receive your workbook.
We will meet with you (individually or together) at a time and in a way that suits you best. We facilitate you and your partner reaching a solution that is then recorded in a written pre-nuptial Agreement.
Once agreement has been reached, we refer you both to independent legal advisors (if you have not already engaged someone) who will finalise and certify the pre-nuptial agreement, so you have a legally binding and enforceable agreement.
